The College of Education (COE) is the founding
academic program at Minnesota State Mankato, which
began as a normal school and state teachers college before
becoming a university.
The primary role of today’s College of Education
is to prepare professional educators, counselors, and
education leaders in many roles, creating one of the most
stable and high quality school workforces in the world.
With nearly 1,900 students enrolled in the COE,
approximately 1,100 are undergraduates, making education
the most popular major at Minnesota State Mankato.
The College also serves approximately 800 graduate
level students seeking doctorate and Master ’s degrees
as well as specialist licensure and continuing education certification.
In addition to our core academic programs, the College
houses award-winning centers in the areas of engaged leadership,
school-university partnerships, and mentoring and induction.
We are home to our university’s aviation and military science departments. The College
also administers the award-winning Children’s House, a non-profit child care
facility operated on the campus of Minnesota State Mankato.
