Guidelines for evaluating past graduates for current licensure

General Information

This policy applies to former MSU students who have completed all degree or licensure requirements but have never applied for Minnesota licensure. Candidates applying for licensure after September 1, 2001 will need to meet new licensure requirements, including all Board of Teaching competencies in subject areas and Standards of Effective Practice. All sections of the MTLE examinations must be successfully completed. Please note that MSU can only recommend candidates for those programs for which the College of Education has Board of Teaching approval.
Candidates may appeal to the Professional Ed Review Board.

  • Verification of professional education dispositions
  • Accept candidate's completed program and successful student teaching.
  • Recommend for licensure.
