Major Advising: Early Childhood Education

The College of Education serves students through developmentally appropriate levels of advising. Several small group advising sessions by level are offered each semester. Sessions are posted at the Academic Advising Office, AH 117.

ECE Advising

100/First Year Students – All students are assigned to the Student Relations Coordinator (SRC) during their first year. The SRC initially conducts the orientation programs and approves the first semester schedule. Students during their first year then also have an identifiable location for immediate advising assistance (COE Academic Advising Office, directed by the (SRC). Sessions focus on program expectations, general education, and admission to major.

Level 200/Second Year Students – Small group advising sessions will be part of the EEC201 (Fall) and EEC222 (Spring) courses. Students are admitted to the major and assigned a Level 200 advisor in their program. The EEC department chair and Early Childhood EEC 201 and EEC 222 instructor of course conduct the fall and spring sessions. Sessions focus on program expectations and sequential program blocking.

Level 300/400 Students – At this time, these sessions are being conducted by department chair. Sequential program blocking has been established and plans are to target the EEC365 and EEC368 courses for block advisement.
