Welcome to the practitioner resources web pages of the Professional School Counseling Program of the Department of Counseling and Student Personnel at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The resources which follow are intended to provide professional school counselors in the field with sample guidance lessons, needs assessment templates, and related resources for modification and use as are most relevant in each particular school district. Efforts have been made to include resources for rural, suburban, and urban school settings at the elementary, middle, and secondary school levels.
The work you will see posted is the product of the students in the Professional School Counseling Program at MSU Mankato. Feel free to print what you need--that is the reason this site exists! Some items are available for downloading directly to your computer. As we are always experimenting with this site, changes will occur periodically as we modify and adjust this medium to better meet the needs of practitioners.
The MSU Professional School Counseling Program is indebted to the hard work of graduate assistants Jennifer Hemmesch, whose diligent efforts during her tenure with the program (2000-2002) was responsible for Phase 1 of this resource, and to Debra Mathison (2003-2004) who worked tirelessly to get Phase 2 up running by the conclusion of the 2004 academic year. Deanna Goddard (2004-2005) was responsible for the Phase 3 update in the spring of 2006.
Three Important Notes: 1) You will notice as you review materials on your computer that sometimes the margins and spaces may appear out of sync with standard page margins. This could be an adjustment problem which occurs when items are translated from disk onto the web or it could be a problem in the communications between the server here at MSU Mankato and the server providing your internet connection. Much, if not all, of these margin problems are corrected when the pages are printed; 2) Pay particular attention if a page appears on your computer as one long string. If this occurs, simply copy the lesson from the website and paste it onto a document before printing. The problem should be solved by doing this; and 3) From time to time, some links go dead. Cybergremlins live! One of the goals of Phase 3 is to eliminate all dead links. If you notice a dead link, please do not hesitate to let us know.
