Crisis intervention is a fact of life in today's world. Contemporary practitioners must have a variety of resources available to them in order to respond to the many challenges facing today's clients. The following recommendations originate from a wide array of materials, print, video, and electronic sources. Students who reviewed the resources are predominately from the Professional School Counseling and the College Student Affairs programs in the Department of Counseling and Student Personnel who take CSP 647: Crisis Intervention Strategies as a part of their required programs of study.
As with all reviews, a special caveat applies here, as well. The reviewers of these resources have applied their own individual standards for the appropriateness of materials for the specific age groups identified. It is up to the practitioners to make their own judgments regarding the utility and appropriateness of each resource within their respective campus environments and clientele. What is age-appropriate at the postsecondary level may not be applicable at the K-12 level.
