MSCA Model of Development

The Minnesota School Counselors' Model of Developmental Guidance and Counseling served as the standard for professional school counseling practitioners in the state until 2004 when the association adopted the American School Counseling Association's National Model: A Foundation for School Counseling Programs. The Professional School Counseling Program at MSU Mankato is proud of its affiliation with the Minnesota School Counseling Association and uses both the MSCA and ASCA models in its educational program. A comprehensive guidance program is symbolized in the "bubble diagram" emphasizing the academic, career, and personal/social domains of the profession. The domains are delivered through guidance curricula, individual planning, system support, and responsive services, all taught in the MSU Mankato PSC Program's course Developmental Guidance (CSP 674).
