Description of Lesson

This lesson begins by leading a general discussion about careers. Questions that should be addressed are: What is career? What would you like to be doing 15 years from now? How does your interest relate to a career?  From there students will be handed an Explorer Handbook. This handbook walks them through several career exploration steps that includes identify interests, strengths and goals. The booklet continues to prompt students to check categories of work that sound appealing to them. With the help of a computer program, a list of careers is generated that accommodate their strengths and interest. Needless to say, this print out generates ample conversation from defining what a particular career is to discussing post secondary steps to attaining a career.
