  • CSP 645 Counseling Skills & Procedures I
  • CSP 665 Counseling Theories
  • CSP 650 Child & Adolescent Counseling (Evening section recommended)

Spring Semester

  • CSP 666 Counseling Skills & Procedures II
  • CSP 673 Group Counseling (Students may take this class in the summer if desired)
  • CSP 675 Research and Writing (Statistics prerequisite must be completed prior to taking this class)

Summer Session

  • CSP 660 Appraisal Techniques: Educational
  • CSP 658 Career Development
  • CSP 655 Mental Health in the Schools

Year 2

Fall Semester

  • CSP 674 Developmental Guidance (This class is always taken in conjunction with the practicum/internship sequence)
  • CSP 679 Practicum: K-12 School Counseling
  • CSP 694 Alternate Plan Paper or CSP 699 Thesis
  • CSP 648 Counseling in a Multicultural Society (Night section reserved for PSCP students)

Spring Semester

  • CSP 647 Crisis Intervention Strategies
  • CSP 686 Internship: K-12 School Counseling
  • CSP 667 Family Counseling

  • Course prerequisites determine whether students can take particular courses. Consult your advisor and the graduate catalog for additional information.
  • Some classes (e.g., Family Counseling; Career Development) have sections offered during semesters different than noted above. These sections are reserved for Community Counseling and/or College Student Affairs students and are only available to School Counseling students if space is available and extenuating circumstances exist. Please take classes during the semesters indicated in this course sequence.
  • Students who have not completed the prerequisite undergraduate statistics and/or abnormal psychology classes should complete them as soon as possible.
  • It is a good idea to consult with your advisor as soon as possible if you are a part-time student or have competing demands that may interfere with your ability to progress through t he course sequence as listed here.
