• Student Teaching Applications are due FEBRUARY 15, 2008

• Summer course schedule will be online FEBRUARY 22

• The deadline for BLOCK I and II applications is February 29, 2008

• Applications for the following courses for FALL AND SUMMER are due by February 29, 2008

  • EEC 422 Emergent Literacy
  • EEC 435 Teacher–Parent Relations in Education
  • EEC 342 Teaching Science, Technology and Social Studies in the Middle School
  • EEC 428 Teaching Reading and Writing in the Content Areas
  • EEC 368 Preprimary Methods and Materials
  • EEC 396 Preprimary Methods and Materials Lab

• Summer Registration begins MARCH 17

• Fall Registration begins APRIL 8

This needs to accompany all applications to Block I

Block I Application Checklist

This checklist must be completed and included as part of your application. Not having the checklist, substitution or waiver forms (if applicable) and/or your DAR, will result in our returning your application to you which may then result in your missing the deadline.

If we find that more than 50 students meet all of the requirements* for admission to Block I then we will choose who is accepted based on grade point averages (top 50 g.p.a.s will be admitted).

*Requirements for Block I–all coursework is completed including categories 8, 9, & 10 and that in your specialty area (with the exception of EEC 428 which may be taken during Block II). A grade point average of at least 2.75.

1. Look at a "plan of study" sheet. You may access this on our Forms & Applications webpage or you may pick one up from AH 328. Will you have completed all of the required courses on the first page (with the exception of Blocks), by the end of the current semester?   (Please check yes or no)

2. Will you have finished all of the courses required for your specialty area (check p. 2 of your "plan of study" sheet for these) by the end of the current semester? (All specialty courses must be completed before you apply for Block I with the exception of EEC 428 which may be taken during Block II–Geol 310 may not be taken during Blocks).

3. Have you fulfilled categories 8, 9, & 10? This needs to be done prior to applying for Block I.

5. Have you included a DAR that was accessed and printed within the last week? Do not submit any DAR that is older than this. Note, we need a DAR not a transcript.

This checklist summarizes all of the requirements for Block I. A response of "no" to questions 1, 2, and/or 3 does not automatically eliminate you from consideration, however all requirements need to be fulfilled before entrance into Block I.
