Requirements
All students must submit an unofficial MSU transcript. Transfer students should submit a copy of their
transfer credit evaluation form, which is available from the Campus Access HUB. Elementary Education students
must complete the following requirements to be admitted to the Major
Credits: 30 completed
GPA: 3.0 cumulative
English 101: grade of A or B
CMST 100 or 102: grade of A or B
How do I apply for admission?
When you have completed the requirements for admission to major, bring an unofficial transcript to
the College of Education Advising Office in Armstrong Hall 117.
Requirements
All students working toward a teaching degree in the Elementary Education major must be admitted to
Professional Education prior to enrollment in upper division coursework in professional education.
Application to Professional Education should be made when the following requirements have been met:
Credits: 40 completed
GPA: 3.0 cumulative
English 101: A or B
Math 201: successfully completed
MTLE test
Successful completion of Writing Assessment Lab
Completion of EEC 200 and 222W
How do I apply for admission to Professional Education?
For application and deadlines for Professional Education contact
the Office of Academic Advising (AH 117).
Select courses in the EEC department require applications for admission. These courses generally
fill early. Applications are due approximately one month before registration begins. Access forms
on the Forms and Applications page and turn them in to the EEC office
(Armstrong Hall 328).
In order to provide high quality and field experiences and instruction, enrollment in Block I is limited. Application will be reviewed based on GPA, course completion, and performance in previous coursework. Both student academic record and dispositions will be considered by the faculty.
Continuance into Block 2 is not automatic, but rather based on successful completion of all requirements in Block 1, including field experience, and a positive recommendation of dispositions by Block 1 faculty.
Continuance into Block 3 is not automatic, but rather based on successful completion of all requirements in Block 2, including field experience, and a positive recommendation of dispositions by Block 2 faculty.
Requirements
Student teaching applications are due to the Clinical and Field Office the semester before a student intends to enroll in Student Teaching. Students must stay aware of all deadlines, meetings and requirements through the Clinical and Field Office.
