Licensure Information

Completion of the Reading Licensure program qualifies you for a K-12 Reading Teacher Licensure Endorsement added on to your current licensure. Licensure endorsement does not occur automatically through graduation and the awarding of a diploma. The university recommends Minnesota licensure endorsement upon completion of all program and licensure requirements.

 Students need to make application for a Minnesota license endorsement at the close of the term in which they graduate. The College of Education, 118 Armstrong Hall, coordinates the licensure process.

Licensing Process Information

Tips for Completing the Form:

• The name of the licensure field is K-12 Reading Teacher.
• When marking the degree level, you should mark either Masters or Fifth year. It is not a specialist degree.
• Visit the website http://education.state.mn.us/MDE/EdExc/Licen/index.html  (scroll down to “Application to Add a Field to an Existing Minnesota License” (under “Forms for Processes Not Yet Available Online”).
• Complete the form, print and attach it with the required processing fee and submit it to:
