The course work in curriculum and instruction, content related, and electives are selected with the consent of the KSP advisor. Candidates may choose to specialize in any of the following areas: early childhood, elementary, secondary, general, or a subject matter specialty. The specialist degree consists of 30 credits in approved graduate coursework. The coursework is divided into five distinct areas:
Prior to completion each candidate is required to take up to 6 credits of research which includes a thesis. Candidates may also choose the Curriculum and Instruction: Physical Education program, offered in conjunction with the Human Performance Department. The Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction is accredited by NCATE and approved by the Minnesota Board of Teaching.
