KSP Undergraduate Distinguished Scholar

Welcome!

Our most prestigious undergraduate award recognizes teacher candidates (junior or senior) who engage in professional growth, service, and leadership. Time spent engaged in these activities is beyond all required field experiences and Service-Learning hours. A formal banquet for Distinguished Scholars with two family members or friends and a content faculty member as a guest will celebrate these accomplishments.

How do I participate?

During your professional preparation, complete any six of the twelve activities to earn this award. Each activity requires full documentation of participation, an Evaluation Form completed (signed by site supervisor), and a brief reflection paper. This will be shared during a scheduled meeting between the candidate and an appointed KSP faculty member.

How do I get started?

Visit the KSP Department Office, pick up an Evaluation Form, and decide which of the twelve activities you will complete. Then, meet with the faculty member who serves as the contact for that activity and present your ideas. Following that meeting complete the activity. Do not begin any activity without discussion with the faculty contact.

What are the steps?

  • Pick up an Evaluation Form
  • Visit with KSP faculty contact
  • Complete Activity
  • Secure Site Supervisor's Signature
  • Meet with KSP faculty contact to review your Reflective Paper
  • Secure faculty signature
