Registration

1. What is the registration fee for the 2006 MKA Conference?

Registration fees are now $75 for the entire conference this year and include membership to the Minnesota Kindergarten Association. The membership year is defined as a conference-to-conference year. MKA conferences are typically held in late April or early May.

2. Will there be a student rate?

Yes, there is a discounted student registration fee! For the 2006 Conference, the student rate is $10.00.

3. Must I become a member of the Minnesota Kindergarten Association (MKA) to register for the conference?

You do not have to be a member of MKA to attend the conference. Membership fees, however, are very reasonable at only $25 per year. Yes, however, the membership fees are very reasonable at only $25 per year. The membership year is defined as a conference-to-conference year. MKA conferences are typically held in late April or early May. The 2006 conference registration forms (38KB PDF) will include an option to join MKA even if you are unable to attend the conference.

4. May I attend the conference if I am not a kindergarten teacher?

Yes! Our kindergarten conference is primarily designed to address the interests of kindergarten teachers; however, we've heard this question asked by early childhood educators (especially pre-school teachers), teachers who work with first, second and third grade students, as well as library-media professionals ... all are welcome and will find the conference professionally renewing and the content relevant and timely!

5. When will registration materials be available?

Registration materials will be available online February 1, 2006.

The 2006 MKA Conference will begin Friday evening at 5:00 pm in the newly renovated (and beautiful) Centennial Student Union at Minnesota State University, Mankato

Friday evening ...

begins with an hour of settling in: you'll pick up the conference welcome packet, browse the art exhibits, explore the vendors, and visit with old and new friends. Rosemary Wells and Dennis Warner will be on the agenda for presenting on Friday evening. Both will be available for autographing sessions after the program.




John and David Peggy Campbell-Rush
Saturday ...

starts with a morning filled with featured speakers: John Archambault & David Plummer, and Peggy Campbell Rush. All of the Saturday featured speakers will be available to autograph books. After lunch, we plan to have breakout sessions and workshops. An invitation for proposals may be found on the conference website (in the toolbar on the left side of the page).

1. Will there be a special hotel rate for conference attendees?

Yes! Mankato area hotels are reserving blocks of rooms for our conference attendees and they will offer a special conference rate. More info

Planning and Volunteering

1. Who is planning the conference?

A regionally-based collaborative group is planning and conducting preliminary work for the conference. This group is composed of kindergarten teachers from seven PDS (Professional Development School) partnering districts, additional PDS Teachers on Special Assignment, and several MSU early childhood professionals. We are very pleased that conference planning and preliminary work is sponsored and supported by the MSU Center for School and University Partnerships, Ginger Zierdt, Director.

2. How may I volunteer?
