All candidates seeking initial teacher licensure are to be assessed at the beginning of their professional education program; one of which is the application into professional education. Undergraduates as well as graduate students seeking initial teacher licensure are included in this process and must attend a orientation to professional education (OPE).
Applications are due the last Friday in February for Fall semester designated for professional education course enrollment, and the last Friday in September for Spring semester designated for professional education course enrollment. All supporting admission requirements must be submitted by the application deadline date in order for the applicant to be considered for admission.
Note: an application for student teaching cannot be processed without being accepted into professional education and in most cases candidates are not allowed to continue in the program.
