At each stage of their programs, undergraduate and graduate College of Education candidates are assessed on knowledge, skills, and dispositions. Stages include admission to the program, admission to the clinical (if applicable), completion of the clinical (or student teaching), and completion of the program.
Part of the assessment system, core assessments are key assessment tools used to measure the content that each College of Education candidate is expected to know. This section includes a FAQ, instructions to submit data to the Professional Ed Tracking & Assessments Systems, and screen shots of sample core assessment rubrics.
Clinical Assessments are the assessment of the student teacher experience and are a collaborative responsibility between MSU and public school teachers and administrators and the student teachers themselves.
In order to support candidates, dispositions (states of being) have been identified and are assessed during admissions, throughout the educational program, and at the program completion. This section provides links to the disposition forms for Counseling & Student Personnel, Educational Administration, Experiential Education and Teacher Education.
The Professional Education Assessment Committee meets two to three times per semester at the Coordinator of Professional Education's request to consider approaches to assessment, assessment data, and recommendations on assessment practices. This section includes contact names and numbers for committee members and links to committee minutes.
