All students working toward a teaching degree and/or license need to be admitted to
professional education prior to enrollment in courses designated professional education.
General Information
Admission
- Minimum credit completion of 32 credits
- Cumulative GPA requirement of 2.5 or 2.75 (depending on department)
- Satisfactory completion of Praxis I: Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST)
- Completion of surveys of knowledge, skills and dispositions
- Satisfactory completion of a writing assessment
- Satisfactory completion of a faculty review
- Completion of process session
Application
- Application deadlines are the third Friday in October and the third Friday in March
- Professional Education Application Process Sessions are scheduled in the weeks
before the deadline each semester
- The writing prompt is assessed by a qualified rater
- The completed application packet is forwarded to the respective department for faculty review

- Provides overview of Professional Education
- Administer 30-minute timed writing prompt
- Completion of surveys on diversity, disabilities, disposition, pedagogy and technology

- Application deadlines are extremely important - faculty are
responsible for informing students of deadlines and need for admission
- Faculty advisors are responsible for reviewing transcripts for course completion and
professional behaviors.
- Introductory course instructors responsible for completion and evaluation of dispositions,
including adjunct faculty
- Ongoing monitoring of candidate progress
- Complete rubric for admission to Professional Education
- 222/220 Faculty complete disposition assessment
