Professional Education Review Board
General Information
Candidates are formally evaluated at specified transition points in professional education.
The Professional Ed Review Board hears appeals of students who do not qualify to move on to
the next transition point. The Board also hears appeals from candidates who wish to challenge
a concern report. The purpose of the process is to identify student needs and articulate
needed support.
Transition Points
- Admission
- Prior to student teaching or internship
- After student teaching or internship
- Completion of program
Appeal Process
- Candidate fills out Variance Request form, including transcripts and other relevant documentation
- Request submitted to College of Education Dean's Office
- Professional Ed Review Board meets within two weeks to hear appeals
- Candidate receives letter from Review Board with results of appeal

Faculty Responsibility
- Serve as a representative from your department - one representative from every
COE department serves on the Professional Ed Review Board
- Refer candidates to the Variance Request form and process when appropriate
