Teacher Licensure

*Graduate certificate programs leading to licensure in ASD, DD, LD, EBD and ECSE are offered for students who hold a current or previous teaching license and wish to add a special education license to their credential (students in this scenario are referred to as add-on licensure students)

*Graduate certificate programs leading to licensure in ASD, DD, LD, EBD and ECSE are also offered for students who hold a non-teaching BS or BA degree and wish to become initial licensed special education teachers (students in this scenario are referred to as initial licensure students and complete the Accelerated Teacher Licensure Program).  Initial licensure students must be admitted to Professional Education and complete a series of 4 Foundations in Education courses in addition to the Prequisite courses, Special Education Core, and Courses required for Licensure (Seminar/Student Teaching). 

Autism Spectrum Disorders: Licensure/Graduate Certificate Program

All work for a graduate degree must be completed within a six-year period. For Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) licensure, students must complete all course work up to and including the student teaching requirements. Learn more about the program »
