How to Apply

Before you Apply

  1. You must complete at least 40 credits needed prior to applying to the program
    • In addition to the 67 Special Education Program credits, 53 general education credits are needed for the 120 credit Bachelor of Science degree. Those applicants who are further along in accumulating these credits and completing their goal areas are in a better position going forward.
    • General Education Required Courses
      • As part of the 40 credits needed completed before applying to the program, you must complete the following general education courses:
        • MATH 201 (3) Elements for Mathematics or Equivalent Course
        • HLTH 240 (3) Drug Education or Equivalent Course
        • HLTH 210 (3) First Aid/CPR or CDIS 205 (3) Sign Language or Equivalent Course
  2. You must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75
  3. Finally you must have completed a basic skills exam (ACT+Writing, MTLE or SAT)
    • If needed, please consider taking courses to help you prepare for basic skills exams. The University offers a MTLE Course you might consider as well as targeted courses. Suggested (but not required) courses useful for the MTLE include:
      • ENG 103/104 (4) Stretch Composition
      • ENG 285 (4) Practical Grammar
      • MATH 110 (3) Perspectives in Mathematics
      • MATH 112 (3) College Algebra
