MAJ Harriott was commissioned through Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia into the Air Defense Artillery branch in October, 2003. Upon commissioning MAJ Harriott attended Officer Basic Course and the Air Defense Officer Basic Patriot course at Fort Bliss, Texas.

MAJ Harriott was assigned to the 35th Air Defense Artillery in South Korea, where he served as a Launcher and Maintenance Platoon Leader. MAJ Harriott was then assigned to the 6th Calvary Brigade, where he served as a Headquarters and Headquarters Executive Officer and Company Commander. From 2005-2007 MAJ Harriott was assigned to the Naval Postgraduate School where he pursued his Masters in Business Administration and developed improved methods of oversight for the usage of Lead System Integrators in Defense acquisitions. Upon reassignment to his Branch, MAJ Harriott attended the Air Defense Captains Career Course at Fort Bliss, Texas. Upon graduating from the Captains Career Course he was assigned to the 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team Air Defense and Airspace Management Cell in South Korea. MAJ Harriott was subsequently assigned as a Company Commander in 302nd Brigade Support Battalion. Upon reassignment to CONUS, MAJ Harriott assumed Command of the Sacramento Recruiting Company in Sacramento, California. In 2012, MAJ Harriott was assigned as a AMD Officer in the ARCENT G39 Forward. Upon completion of this assignment, MAJ Harriott was stationed at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Oregon as an Assistant Professor of Military Science. In 2015 MAJ Harriott was assigned back to Fort Bliss, Texas as the Chief of Future Operations of 32D Army Air and Missile Defense Command. MAJ Harriott then assumed the roles and responsibilities of the Theater Army Air and Missile Defense Coordinator for 32D AAMDC Forward.

MAJ Harriott holds a BA in Psychology from California State University Northridge, an M.B.A. from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey California and a M.A. in Leadership and Management from the University of Texas at El Paso. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal w/3 OLC, Army Commendation Medal w/4 OLC, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Space Badge and the Recruiter Badge.
