Janet Williams, Captain
Captain Janet M. Williams graduated from Lander University located in Greenwood, South Carolina. She enlisted onto active duty service in 2006 as a Motor Transport Operator. Following AIT, she served with the 3rd Infantry Division, 1st Heavy Brigade Combat Team in Fort Stewart, Georgia where she deployed to FOB Camp Hit, Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM V 2007-2008.
CPT Williams commissioned via Officer Candidate School in May 2010 at Fort Benning, Georgia. After graduating from the Basic Officer Leadership Course Phase II, Fort Lee, Virginia in October 2010, she was assigned to the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Her first duty assignment was assistant BDE S-3 (Future Operations). In May 2011, she transitioned to Alpha Company, 96th Aviation Support Battalion as the Transportation Platoon Leader and subsequently served as the Supply Support Activity Platoon Leader. Succeeding that position she advanced to serve as the Company’s Executive Officer. She deployed to FOB Bagram, Afghanistan in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM 2012-2013. Following redeployment to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, she served as the battalion S-4 Officer in the 96th ASB. In 2013, she earned a Master’s Degree in Transportation and Logistics Management. CPT Williams deployed to Camp Casey, Korea in 2014, assigned to 302nd Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, as the S-4 OIC and also served as the assistant S-3 Officer (Current Operations).
In 2015, CPT Williams graduated the Combined Logistics Captains Career Course at Fort Lee, Virginia. After LOGC3, she transitioned to Fort Hood, Texas and was assigned to the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) Support Operations (SPO) as the Petroleum Supply Officer in the Distribution Integration Branch and later assigned to the 61st Quartermaster Battalion SPO as the Petroleum Supply Officer. In July 2017, she was assigned to the 3d Cavalry Regiment as the SPO Operations Officer and later commanded the Maintenance Troop in the Regimental Support Squadron.
CPT Williams’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (four Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (five Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (one bronze service star), Iraqi Campaign Medal (one bronze service star), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, North Atlantic Treaty Organization Medal, and the Air Assault Badge.
CPT Williams and her partner Abeni Scott resides in Mankato, Minnesota.
