Free Professional Development Webinar.
The Department of Elementary and Literacy Education will be providing free, monthly teacher professional development Webinar during the 2022-2023 school year. This is a live, interactive session that enables participants to ask questions and provide comments to the host and other participants. Each Webinar is approximately 60 to 70 minutes in duration. Clock hour certificates are provided.
October Session:
All students can learn to write and to write well. Teaching them how to do this is easy if you know and understand the five-step writing process. This free, interactive webinar focuses on how to develop students’ ability to write. Participants will leave this session with an understanding of how to teach the writing process and a variety of new strategies and activities that can be used in classrooms from kindergarten through eighth grade.

Presenter Bio:
Dr. Andy Johnson is Professor of Literacy Instruction and Distinguished Faculty Scholar in the Department of Literacy and Elementary Education at Minnesota State University, Mankato. After teaching in the elementary classroom for 9 years, he received a PhD from the University of Minnesota in Literacy Instruction in 1997. He has been working in higher education for 27 years. He is the author of 15 books and over 50 academic articles and book chapters related to literacy, learning, and the human condition.
