College of Education Undergraduate Student Advisory Board
2024 - 2025 Undergraduate Student Representatives Needed
The College of Education is accepting nominations for the newly-announced Undergraduate Student Advisory Board. Nominations are due April 8. Selected students will serve as a representative for the 2024 - 2025 academic year. Students may nominate themselves or be nominated by another individual.
The role of the Undergraduate Student Advisory Board
The objective of the advisory board includes fostering student engagement, promoting communication between students and administration, addressing major events and concerns within the college, and organizing events to enhance student engagement and retention.
Student input and representation are vital elements of an effective and thriving academic community. This board will consist of one student representative from each undergraduate major within the college. Students may nominate themselves or be nominated by a faculty or staff member. The selected representatives will serve as a liaison between students and administration.
The board will consist of one representative from the following undergraduate departments, along with the current COE Student Senator.
- Aviation
- Elementary & Literacy Education
- K – 12 & Secondary Programs
- Special Education
Selected Student Representatives and Their Role
Board members will serve for one academic year and meet every 4 - 6 weeks throughout the school year.
- Board members will serve as communication channels between their peers and administration.
- The advisory board will have the opportunity to propose and implement initiatives that enhance the overall student experience within the College of Education, including events, student engagement, and retention strategies.
- Initiatives may include workshops, events, or programs aimed at fostering a sense of community and support among students.
- Board members will gain valuable experience and enhance their resume by serving on the advisory board.
After the nomination and selection process, the selected board members will be contacted and informed of future steps and upcoming meetings. The nomination form will be open through April 8, 2024, for a fall 2024 start in the formal advisory board.
Selected student representatives will be invited to an information meeting between the week of April 22 - April 26, 2024, to discuss future planning for Fall 2024.
Nomination Process
Students may nominate themselves or be nominated by a faculty/staff member. A complete nomination should be submitted to the applicable department faculty member listed below, based on the student's major. The current deadline is April 8, 2024, for the 2024 - 2025 academic year.
