CPT Erick Heaney commissioned from the United States Military Academy in 2015 as an Air Defense Officer. He has completed the Basic Officer Leader Course and the Captain’s Career Course as part of the Army’s Professional Military Education system. He has also attended several specialized courses, including Air Assault School, the Sensor Manager Qualification Course, Sensor Manager Leader Development Course, Air Defense and Air Management/Brigade Aviation Element Course, Terminal High Altitude Area Defense Course, Military History Instructor Course, and the Commander’s Course.

CPT Heaney has served in multiple company-grade leadership positions, including Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Battery Commander. His staff experience includes assignments as an Assistant Battalion Operations Officer and Sensor Manager OIC. He currently serves as the Assistant Professor of Military Science for the Minnesota State University–Mankato ROTC program.
