Fall 2025 Aviation Enrollment Process
To best support our Aviation students, Minnesota State University, Mankato will implement a limit on the number of new students that will be allowed into the Professional Flight Emphasis in the Aviation B.S. program at the university beginning with students applying for a fall of 2025 start. Students are encouraged to apply for admission to the university as soon as possible to be considered.
Selection of students for the program will be based primarily on a combination of GPA, time of admission, and student admission category.
Students who are accepted to the program will be assigned to one of two pathways: some will begin ground school and flight lab in the fall semester of their first year; others will begin ground school and flight lab in the spring semester of their first year.
- New first-year students who are admitted to the university by November 15 with a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher will be considered for participation in the fall semester flight lab pathway based on a lottery and notified by November 30.
- Students will be selected for participation in the spring semester flight lab based on a lottery of the remaining aviation students with an admission deadline early in the spring semester.
- To be considered for participation in the professional flight program, new first-year students must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0.
Students admitted to the program must confirm their acceptance by the deadlines in their acceptance notices. Students who are not granted access can choose to pursue other avenues in aviation through our non-flight emphases in the Aviation B.S. (aviation management or unmanned aircraft systems) or a different major.
