Whether drafting your next article, working on your dissertation, or preparing a book manuscript, InkSpire is here to help you achieve your writing goals. The Department of Educational Leadership is hosting InkSpire as a week-long retreat for MSU faculty and doctoral students from all disciplines. Attendance applies toward Criterion 2 and Criterion 3 of the PDP/PDR process.
What’s included in InkSpire:
- Writing accountability: Meet regularly with fellow participants to keep you on track.
- Community writing spaces: Write alongside other scholars in a supportive, distraction-free environment.
What to expect:
- In-person retreat: InkSpire is an in-person, immersive experience held at the Edina Campus.
- Your own writing time: The retreat is about your writing. Participants will have dedicated writing time to work on their projects. We provide you with a platform to develop your writing practice.
- Preparation: Bring your laptop and any materials (e.g., books, articles, other references/sources, earbuds/headphones) necessary for your writing.
Dates, Cost, and Location:
- Event dates: July 21-25, 2025
- Cost: $200.00/person
- Location: Edina Campus (7700 France Ave S #500, Edina, MN 55435)
- If you are coming from a distance, consider staying at a hotel near the Edina campus. There are many hotels in the area.
What's Included in Registration Fees:
Registration fees include daily coffee, fruit, pastries, writing space, Wi-Fi, and free printing/scanning. Each day includes an optional 45-minute yoga class designed to center our bodies and prepare our bodies and minds for productivity.

Registration closes July 20, 2025, at 5:00 pm CST.
(College of Education faculty may use their PD funds to pay for the InkSpire retreat).
Notes, Expectations, & Tips:
- We will break for lunch. Lunches are on your own. There are many restaurants close by, including one in the France Ave building.
- The Edina Campus has a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, sink, and a toaster. Feel free to bring your lunch or snacks.
- Coffee, tea, and water will be available for free all day.
- Bring a water bottle.
- Wear comfortable clothes.
- Bring earbuds/headphones if you want to listen to music or block out external noise as you write.
- Participants are welcome to take breaks as needed.

Tentative Daily Working Schedule (subject to change):
- 9:00-9:45: Yoga (optional). Bring a yoga mat.
- 9:45-10:00 Break/Breakfast
- 10:00-12:00 Write
- 12:00-1:00 Lunch
- 1:00-4:00 Write (Take small breaks as needed)
- 4:00-5:00 Regroup: Share out progress and state writing goals for the following day
