Coaching Cycles to Develop Effective Teaching (CCET)

 

The Center for Educator Support (CES), along with the New Teacher Center, offers a unique professional growth opportunity for university faculty, university supervisors, and mentor teachers to provide essential support for pre-service teacher candidates through highly effective mentoring processes throughout field experiences. The CCET Insitute model includes essential pieces of effecitve programmatic design and professional learning: 

 

Professional Learning

  • Foundations of effective coaching, including coaching stances and language, buildng trust, working with adult learners
  • Tools and protocols that guide and assess teacher development within instructionally focused coaching cycles of inquiry
  • Frameworks and content that develop coaches' ability to coach for elements of an Optimal Learning Environment for students that address rigorous curriculum and instruction, social and emotional learning, and meeting the diverse needs of every learner
  • 4 days of online learning, including synchronous and asynchronous modules

 

In-Field Coaching as Job Embedded Professional Support

  • Non-evaluative coaching support for Institute participants and feedback related to their experience with use of high leverage tools with teacher candidates
  • Self-anaylysis and goal setting of strengths and areas fo growth realted to effective implementation of coaching cycles
