Meet the 2026 Keynote Panel
Our 12th annual conference will feature a panel of four exemplary local education leaders.
Dr. Salma Hussein
Dr. Salma Hussein is the principal of Gideon Pond Elementary School in Burnsville, Minnesota. Dr. Hussein foster equity, belonging, and culturally responsive leadership. Her work reflects a deep belief that when we lead with purpose and humanity, we create lasting change in our schools and communities.
Ms. Chong Yang
Ms. Chong Yang holds an Education Specialist degree in Administrative Leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Ms. Chong has been a dedicated educator and advocate for educational equity. As the district’s Culturally Responsive Instruction Coordinator, she led efforts to develop leaders and educators in culturally responsive practices. Most recently, Chong served as the Assistant Director of Secondary Education for Osseo Area Schools. She also serves in various capacities to promote leadership development and educational equity in her community.
Dr. Quennel W. Cooper
Dr. Quennel W. Cooper, Assistant Superintendent of St. Louis Park Public Schools. He served as a teacher in St. Paul Public Schools, a principal in both Inver Grove Heights and Eden Prairie. He brings a deep commitment to student growth, leadership, and community partnership. His passion centers on making a lasting impact on young people, especially Black males, by fostering a sense of belonging, empowerment, and opportunity in schools.
Dr. Isabel Rodriguez-Mendoza
Dr. Isabel Rodriguez-Mendoza, principal of Wellstone International High School and Heritage STEM Academy in Minneapolis and the first Latina to earn a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Dr. Rodriguez-Mendoza draws from her own experiences as a Spanish-speaking educator to champion equity and opportunity for multilingual learners. Her leadership is grounded in culturally responsive practices that prioritize access, academic excellence, and the removal of barriers to student success.
