The Department of Counseling and Student Personnel offers graduate programs at the masters and doctorate levels. We believe personal connections and honoring diverse perspectives are at the heart of student success. CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) was formed in 1981 in cooperation with the American Counseling Association to promote the advancement of quality educational programs in counselor training.

Minnesota State Mankato’s applied Doctorate of Education degree (Ed.D.) in Counselor Education and Supervision is a gateway to opportunities in the fields of counselor education, higher education and advanced clinical practice in professional counseling and supervision.
The Master of Science in Counseling and Student Personnel is designed to prepare graduate students to serve real-world needs of clients and students in one of two emphasis areas: Mental Health Counseling and Professional School Counseling.
The Master of Science in College Student Affairs program is designed to prepare dynamic leaders in higher education for a wide variety of positions through coursework that focuses on student affairs administration, college student development, and counseling skills from a social justice framework.

The CSP clinical lab facility has been and continues to be in development for over three decades. The lab with its rich history and state-of-the-art technology is meant to augment and enhance the training of students in both the Masters and Doctorate programs.
The Professional School Counseling program at Minnesota State University - Mankato is pleased to announce that we were the only school counseling program in the state of Minnesota to have been awarded the Student Support Pipeline grant through the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE).
