Preschool I Room

We spend much of our time communicating, reading, and playing both indoors and outdoors. The children in this room are learning important skills through their play such as self- help skills, life skills, math, science, and literacy skills. The children have several opportunities every day to work on social skills, problem solving skills, and conflict resolution.

 Self-help skills are learned through:

*dressing and undressing

*hanging outerwear

*putting toys away

*cleaning spills

*serving themselves during mealtimes

Life skills are learned through:

*dramatic play experiences (dress-up, dolls, toys dishes, play tools, pretend resturant etc.)

*cleaning up/putting away toys, clothes, blankets, etc...)

*serving themselves during mealtimes

Math/Science/Literacy skills are learned through:

*books (reading with individually or in small or large group)

*games (we have many!!!!)

*activities/games that teach counting, colors, patterns etc...through one to one correspondence

*small manipulatives tools such as crayons, pencils, puzzles, small blocks etc...

*sensory table(wet and dry items such as water, snow, and sand plus other nature items. Games and manipulative items are used also.

*gardening outside

Chlidren practice their social skills each day by:

*communicating their needs and wants with adults and other children

*asking other children if they can join in their play

*telling other children how they feel when involved in a conflict

Children work on problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills:
